You say, "I believe the Bible; but I don't believe in 'angels'." Then, consider the following:

In the Old Testament of the Bible, according to a computer search of the King James translation, there are 108 references to "angel", or "angels" -- and in the New Testament, there are 175 references to angels. There are 75 references to "angels", in the Book of Revelations.

Similarly, in the Old Testament of the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible, there are 105 references to "angel", or "angels".... and in the New Testament, there are 176 references to "angels".

Therefore, for those who claim to believe and accept the validity and "truth" of the Bible, it would be incongruous to deny the existence of angels; and to refuse to acknowledge ("believe-in") the presence and function and effects of "angels" in our lives, and in our world.... the world designed and created by Almighty God.

As for me, I accept that "angels" exist -- even though, in my "past", the concept of "angels" was somewhat awkward for me.

In retrospect, however, I can now "see" and understand that there have always been angels in my life -- and I sense, especially now, that angels continue to function in my life.

Note the following powerful Biblical "samples", concerning "angels" -- including some of my special favorites:

Psalm 91: 9 (NRSV) Because you have made the LORD your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place, 10 no evil shall befall you; no scourge come near your tent. 11 For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. 12 On their hands, they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot.

Same: (NIV) If you make the Most High your dwelling -- even the LORD, who is my refuge -- 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For He will command His angels concerning you -- to guard you in all your ways. 12 They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Psalm 103: 19 (NIV) The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His Kingdom rules over all. 20 Praise the LORD, you His ANGELS -- you mighty ones who do His bidding.... who obey His word.
Same (NEB) 20 Bless the Lord, all His ANGELS -- creatures of might who do God's bidding. Bless the Lord, all His hosts -- His ministers who serve His will.
Acts 27: 23 (NRSV) Paul speaking: For last night there stood by me an ANGEL of the God to whom I belong, and whom I worship, 24 and he said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before the emperor; and indeed, God has granted safety to all those who are sailing with you.'

Hebrews 1: 14 (NRSV) Are not all angels spirits in the divine service.... sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?

Matthew 24: 31 (NRSV) And He will send out His ANGELS with a loud trumpet call -- and they will gather
His elect (link) from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

LUKE 2: 13 (NRSV) And suddenly there was with the ANGEL a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, 14 "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom He favors!"

1 Timothy 3: 16 (NRSV) Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is great: He was revealed in flesh, vindicated in spirit, seen by ANGELS, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed-in throughout the world, taken-up in glory.

Hebrews 13: 1 Let mutual love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that, some have entertained ANGELS, without knowing it. 3 Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; and those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured.

So, what about you? What is your "attitude" about ANGELS.... your understanding; your "belief"? Has "modern technology" caused you to eradicate all of that "superstitious stuff", about angels? Have television and weird movies distorted your "views" of angels?

Not me.... I believe, even more now than before.... in the reality and presence and effects of "angels".... in my life, and in our World. "Creatures of might, who do God's bidding"; as the above quotation from Psalm 103 states.

I think of "angels" as emissaries from God -- many times functioning "unseen".... and unrecognized, in the lives of God's people. Yes, I am quite certain, to my own satisfaction, that angels "abide", and perform their duties, within human-beings. Angels -- God's "workers".... serving as the "hands" of God.

Note again, the above-quoted reference in Hebrews 13: "Show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that, some have entertained ANGELS.... without knowing it."

Similarly, it is my strong opinion, that "angels" indwell other worldly creatures, such as those dear animal friends, that live with us, and love us, and protect us.... those dear "pets" which reveal to us the way we should "be" toward our God. (See link, a beautiful poem: "
Bishop Doane's Dog".)

Yep.... sometimes angels are "visible", in human-form, even though not necessarily recognized. And, yes, I do believe that angels "serve" in our lives, even when their activities are not obvious to us. This "makes sense", to me.

How can I not believe in angels?
I married one, in 1959.... and she is still a loving "creature of might", in my existence. (See link Phyllis J. Todd.)

If I am wrong -- no harm is done. If I am right, I will dwell happily in my wisdom. I cannot "prove" my understanding. Perhaps, my belief is a matter of my "faith", and my "trust".

As for me, to repeat, I cannot be satisfied in "believing" the truth of the entire Bible.... if I am led to abandon my acceptance of all the numerous and beautiful references to "angels".

Think about it, again. What are your beliefs?
